What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a virtually invisible solution for straighter teeth and more beautiful smiles.  In fact, virtually no one will know you’re wearing them unless you tell.  By using a series of clear, removable aligners, Invisalign straightens your teeth without the need for metal wires or brackets. Invisalign is comfortable to wear and it doesn’t require you to change your busy lifestyle.  You will only need to visit Dr. Valley every 6 weeks to check your progression and get new aligners. The average treatment time is about a year.  Because aligners are removable, you can continue to eat your favorite foods while brushing and flossing to keep your teeth and gums healthy.

Is Dr. Valley a certified Invisalign doctor?
Our office is proud to announce that Dr. Valley was one of the first orthodontists in the world to be certified with Invisalign, and the first orthodontist in Marin County to use the technique.  Dr. Valley has worked closely with Align technology since the company’s founding in 1998.  She has presented to audiences around the country, teaching doctors and residents how to use the technique. As a professor at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry (where the first clinical trials on Invisalign were performed), Dr. Valley works closely with other professors and residents on the latest innovations with this method of treatment.

How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign utilizes 3-D computer imaging technology to transform impressions of your teeth into a series of customized plastic aligners. Each aligner is worn for approximately two weeks.  They are removed only to eat, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they reach the final alignment that Dr. Valley has prescribed. The number of aligners you wear depends on the severity of crowding or spacing you have.

Is Invisalign right for me?

Invisalign has been proven effective for adults and teenagers in clinical research and practices nationwide.  Dr. Valley can determine if this treatment is an effective option for you.  You can obtain more information at Invisalign’s website, www.invisalign.com.
